Language
Language support focuses on helping children develop the skills they need to understand and use words, sentences, and concepts in everyday situations. This may include building vocabulary, understanding instructions, forming sentences, asking and answering questions, and sharing ideas in conversations or play. We use play‑based and/or interest‑led activities to explore language in meaningful contexts across home, school, and community settings.
What do we mean by language?
Language refers to how children understand and use words, sentences, and concepts to communicate. It includes vocabulary, grammar, following instructions, telling stories, and expressing ideas.
When might a child benefit from support?
Families often seek support when their child has difficulty understanding instructions, learning and using words, forming sentences, asking or answering questions, or sharing ideas in conversations or play.
What does a session look like?
Sessions are play‑based and interest‑led. We explore language through meaningful activities that help your child practice understanding and expressing ideas in natural, everyday situations.
Do you support both receptive and expressive language?
Short answer - yes. We support children developing receptive language (understanding) and expressive language (using words and sentences), always in ways that fit their age, needs, and daily environments.
How do you involve families?
We work alongside families to identify everyday opportunities for building language during routines like play, mealtimes, book‑sharing, and community activities.
