Self-Advocacy
What is self-advocacy?
Self‑advocacy is someone's ability to recognise their needs, preferences and ideas and communicate them in ways that feel safe and comfortable. This may include identifying feelings, asking for help, making choices, understanding personal boundaries, and communicating with peers and adults.
What does a session look like?
Sessions use play, role‑play, and real‑life scenarios to explore communication in ways that feel natural and empowering for your child.
How do you involve families?
We work closely with families to identify everyday opportunities for building self‑advocacy skills during routines like play, mealtimes, community outings, and school interactions.
Do you work with schools or educators?
Yes. Collaboration with educators and support teams is an important part of supporting self-advocacy across environments.
