Questions families ask
What is situational mutism?
Situational mutism, also called selective mutism, is an anxiety-based communication difference. A child may speak comfortably in some settings but find it difficult, or not be able, to talk in others.
Is it the same as selective mutism?
Yes, they describe the same thing. We use "situational" because talking depends on the situation; it isn't a choice your child is making.
Do you work with schools and kinders?
Yes. Working with educators and support teams is an important part of building confident communication across places.
