Self-Advocacy
Self‑advocacy support focuses on helping develop the skills and confidence to express needs, preferences, and ideas across different environments. This may include identifying feelings, asking for help, making choices, understanding personal boundaries, and communicating with peers and adults. We use play‑based and/or interest‑led activities to explore self‑advocacy in meaningful, everyday contexts at home, school, and in the community.
What is self-advocacy?
Self‑advocacy is someone's ability to recognise their needs and communicate them in ways that feel safe and comfortable. It includes asking for help, making choices, and expressing preferences.
What does a session look like?
Sessions use play, role‑play, and real‑life scenarios to explore communication in ways that feel natural and empowering for your child.
How do you involve families?
We work closely with families to identify everyday opportunities for building self‑advocacy skills during routines like play, mealtimes, community outings, and school interactions.
Do you work with schools or educators?
Yes. Collaboration with educators and support teams is an important part of supporting self-advocacy across environments.
